Nothing can prepare you for the sheer thrill of piloting a small aircraft.  From the moment the wheels leave the ground you will be bombarded with new sensations; Moving in three dimensions, breathtaking scenery, towering clouds, and unusual G-forces. And above all, the freedom to go wherever you want, even overseas.

At Yorkshire 4x4 Adventure Training we can take you from complete novice to qualified pilot. Along the way, you’ll have lots of fun, and be truly tested.

On the day of the flight, we start with a safety briefing. Your instructor will then strap you into the aircraft, and fly you around the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside.

During the flight, you will be taught the basics of controlling an aircraft, and offered the opportunity to take the controls and fly the aircraft yourself. Your instructor will supervise and provide coaching, and ensure your safety throughout the flight.

Our route will typically take us towards the North York Moors at an altitude of 2-3000 ft.

During a 30 minute flight we would typically fly across the moors to Helmsley, and return via the famous White Horse at Kilburn.
In 60 minutes, we could fly over Castle Howard, Rievaulx Abbey, Byland Abbey, Helmsley Castle, the North York Moors Railway, and some of the beautiful Moors villages, hills and vales. Or we might head out to Harrogate, Ripon, Leyburn and into James Herriot country the Yorkshire Dales.

On a clear day, there will be spectacular views of the Yorkshire coastline, the Pennines, and the Vale of York. We may even get amongst some cloud formations.
